Step by step Vista theme install instructions are already covered here. That's pretty much all that's required.

To see if you have Vista SP1, open up welcome center and look for the place where it shows your current Windows Vista version.

No, I don't have SP1. I tried your instructions but it didn't work. I guess my computer just won't let me.

It looks to me your system isn't properly patched. Did you get transparency on maximized windows when you applied VistaGlazz? If not, it didn't patch your Windows. Try re-applying the patch or do it manually.

I'll just start the whole process over again. I'm afraid to do it manually, so I'll try using VistaGlazz again. I tend to be very clumsy, even if I am a computer nerd.

Still no luck. When the .RAR file is extracted to the desktop, do I drag the whole folder to the Themes folder? I feel like that may be the problem.

I got one working. How I got it running I have no clue. But I did.

OK...i apologize for being so simple minded but here goes....When I extract the rar files they look fine, but when I try to copy the whole folder to the themes file I get an error message that the files could not be opened....and secondly, when I unzip the rar files there are several files unzipped. Do I open a certain one and copy that or do I copy every file that is unzipped. There is a file named"..." I am not sure what that is.....please help a newbie.

Also when I extract the file I get the following error message....! ! C:\Users\Desktop\UltimateDark_by_r3c1pr0c17y.7z: Cannot open Themes\UltimateDark\Shell\NormalColor\en-US\wallpaper\187639930674.jpg
!...I think this is the main problem but I don't know why.
